Air and Water Barrier Systems
When it comes to designing your rainscreen exterior wall system, you have several weatherpoofing systems to choose from depending on your design criteria. Are you planning to use exterior insulation? If yes, you can choose from several options including the Thermax Wall System that attaches Thermax™ direct to the studs then sealed with liquid flashing. To attach your cladding you will need a layer of thermally broken girts, such as Knight Wall. The other option is Dupont™ Armorwall Plus™ Structural Insulated Sheathing. This product gives you a total, all in one composite system. The system provides a built-in polyurethane rigid insulation, permanently fused to an MGO structural sheathing with built-in air/water barrier. The structural sheathing joints are sealed using a liquid flashing product. From there the rainscreen cladding is attached directly to the MGO surface, eliminating the need for additional girts. Finally, if you are not using exterior insulation, Vaproshield offers several options in vapor permeable, self-adhered membranes specifically made for rainscreen systems. There are also hybrid cases of exterior insulation and self-adhered membranes we can discuss during our totally free consultation.

DuPont™ ArmorWall™ Structural Insulated Sheathing Systems incorporate five traditional building enclosure elements into a composite panel product: structural sheathing, fire-resistance, air barrier, water-resistive barrier, and a high-performance continuous insulation layer. The five-in-one system is available with either DuPont™ArmorWall Plus Fire-Rated Structural Insulated Sheathing (SIS) or DuPont™ ArmorWall SP Plus Fire-Rated Structural Insulated Sheathing (SIS) and includes ArmorBoard Plus Structural Sheathing Returns and ArmorSeal accessories as part of a complete system. As innovative products in the industry, DuPont™ ArmorWall™ Systems can replace several traditional individual components that, on their own, add cost, labor, and complexity to a project.
